Welcome to the very first edition of the TGG Market Forecast, your weekly look at what’s growing, baking, brewing, and occasionally going completely off the rails here at The Grazing Ground.

Think of this as your Saturday market preview, with a little farm life sprinkled in because around here, the goats rarely allow us to stick to a simple grocery list.

This Week’s Forecast

The outlook for Saturday is looking fresh, homegrown, and approximately 87% likely to involve a goat doing something she should not be doing.

The market will be open Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and August is bringing a brand-new theme with it.

Welcome to Homegrown Wellness Month

August is National Wellness Month, but we’re giving it the full TGG treatment and celebrating Homegrown Wellness Month.

For us, wellness does not have to mean complicated routines, expensive products, or pretending zucchini bread is not still bread.

It can be picking something fresh from the garden, spending time outside, trying a new creative activity, laughing at a ridiculous goat video, or simply slowing down long enough to enjoy a really good cookie.

Throughout August, we’ll be sharing products, events, crafts, and simple ideas centered around feeling good, reconnecting, and making wellness feel a little more realistic.

And probably more goat-filled.

Garden Conditions: Mostly Fresh with a Chance of Tomatoes

This week’s garden forecast is looking colorful, peppery, and slightly unpredictable.

Expected to roll into the market Saturday:

• Farm Fresh Eggs

• Tomatillos

• Banana peppers

• Bell peppers

• Mini herb bouquets

• Tomatoes, pending their last-minute decision to ripen

• Pears are back!!!

The tomatillo front remains strong, pepper activity is steadily increasing, and scattered mini herb bouquets are expected across the market tables.

We're also happy to report that pears are back in the forecast this weekend, bringing a sweet little comeback to the produce lineup.

Tomato conditions remain uncertain. Our garden meteorologists are watching closely, but tomatoes operate on their own schedule and refuse to comment at this time.

As always, quantities depend on what is ready to harvest, so arrive early for the best selection!

The One with All the Cookies

The bakery forecast is calling for a very strong chance of cookies.

This Saturday’s lineup will include:

• Chocolate chip cookies

• Snickerdoodles

• Monster cookies

• Zucchini bread

Yes, the zucchini bread technically contains a vegetable.

We will allow everyone to decide what that means for their personal wellness journey.

New on the Preserve Shelf

Two new jars are joining the market shelves this weekend:

Strawberry Jam

Made with strawberries grown right here at TGG!

There is something extra satisfying about taking fruit from our own garden and turning it into a jar that can be enjoyed long after strawberry season has packed its tiny suitcase and left town.

Jalapeño Jam

Sweet, peppery, and ready to be paired with cream cheese and crackers, added to a sandwich, brushed onto grilled meat, or eaten directly from the sample spoon while pretending you are still deciding whether you like it.

Samples of both new preserves will be available Saturday, so come taste them before choosing your favorite.

Or choose both. We support that kind of decision-making.

Janice had a week.

At some point, she managed to get herself stuck, create complete goat chaos, and flip over a wheelbarrow in the process.

Was the wheelbarrow bothering her?

Was this an escape attempt?

Was she simply conducting a farm equipment safety inspection?

We may never know.
