TGG Market Forecast 9/26 The garden is slowing down. Work is not!

Saturday, September 26, 2026
The garden has officially entered it's "I've done enough" era.
After months of tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, herbs, pears, weeds, bugs and weather doing whatever it felt like doing, things are finally starting to slow down.
But wrapping up the garden doesn't exactly mean the work stops.
There are beds to clean out, plants to pull, soil to amend, things to cut back, things to leave alone, and plenty of notes to make for what I want to do differently next year. Basically, while the garden is winding down above ground, I'm already thinking about what happens next.
I had plans for more fall planting this year too, but, well...that did not exactly go according to plan 😂 Between the weather, the garden chaos and everything else happening around here, I just didn't get as much planted as I hoped.
So unfortunately, there probably won't be much of a fall harvest this year.
There will, however, be plenty of plotting for next season
And TGG itself?
Apparently we do not believe in slowing down!
This week has been a little less about harvesting and a whole lot more about a special project happening behind the scenes. More on that in a minute.
First, here's what you can expect at the market this Saturday.
🌤️This Week’s Forecast
Fall weather: FINALLY.
Garden production: Winding down.
Egg production: The girls are still clocking in.
Kitchen activity: Very much alive.
Current mood: Open the windows, bake something with molasses and pretend October lasts six months.
I am absolutely loving this weather.
Cool mornings, comfortable afternoons and that first little hint that everything outside is getting ready to settle in for the season. After the summer we’ve had, I will happily take every crisp morning Mother Nature wants to send our way.
🥚Fresh from the Farm

Produce will be a little lighter this weekend as the garden starts wrapping things up for the year.
I'll have fresh pears available and possibly a few other odds and ends depending on what the garden gives me between now and Saturday, but we're definitely reaching the tail end of the season.
We also have lots of fresh eggs right now.
That will likely start changing soon too as the days get shorter. Less daylight naturally means egg production usually slows down, so we're enjoying the good supply while the girls are still keeping up.
🍪 From the TGG Kitchen
This week’s baked goods are two fan favorites:
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Our soft, salted chocolate chip cookies made with a little secret ingredient: molasses. It gives them that deeper, richer flavor that makes a regular chocolate chip cookie feel just a little more farmhouse fancy.
Molasses Pear Butter Bread
Made with our own Salted Caramel Pear Butter, this one is cozy, lightly spiced and very much made for coffee-on-the-porch weather.
💍 Meanwhile, Behind the Scenes...
Most of my extra time lately has been going toward one pretty special project.
A bride recently reached out looking for custom wedding favors and wanted something a little different, personal and farm-inspired.
We ended up creating a pair of mini TGG goodies for her guests: Custom Pepper Jelly with a Spread the Love theme, and a handmade Harvest Herb Salt Blend featuring dried tomatoes, peppers and herbs from right here at TGG.
The jars are being customized for the wedding and packaged together as little edible favors that guests can take home and actually use.
And I have to say, I’ve really enjoyed putting this one together.
It’s been fun taking things we already grow and make here and turning them into something completely custom for someone’s big day.
So yes, consider this your official reminder: We’re open to custom projects.
Wedding favors, shower favors, party gifts, corporate goodies, custom preserves, seasonings, farm-inspired gift bundles... if you have an idea, ask.
There’s a very good chance my response will be, “Hmm... I bet we could make that.”
🍐 From the Farmhouse Kitchen: Easy Baked Pears

Since pears will still be hanging around the market this weekend, here’s an easy way to use them that requires very little effort and makes your house smell ridiculously good.
Cinnamon Maple Baked Pears
You’ll need:
4 ripe pears
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Optional: chopped pecans or walnuts
To make them:
Heat your oven to 375°F.
Slice the pears in half and scoop out the centers. Place them cut-side up in a baking dish.
Mix the melted butter, maple syrup, cinnamon and salt, then spoon it over the pears.
Bake for about 25–30 minutes, until the pears are soft and caramel-y around the edges.
Top with chopped nuts if you want a little crunch.
They’re really good warm by themselves, over oatmeal or with vanilla ice cream if we’re no longer pretending this is strictly a healthy recipe.
🐐 And Of Course... Our Friends

The goats are also very much enjoying this cooler weather.
Honestly, everyone around here is a little happier when it’s not 92 degrees with the humidity of a steamed bathroom.
If you stop by the market, be sure to wander over and say hi to the goats while you’re here.
They’re always happy to have visitors at the fence, and there is usually at least one of them nearby hoping someone has arrived specifically to admire them.
🍂 See You Saturday
The garden may be easing into fall, but there’s still plenty happening around here.
We’ll have pears, fresh eggs, limited Apple Pie Jam, Chocolate Chip cookies, Molasses Pear Butter Bread and all of the usual TGG goodies waiting in the market.
